children's portraits

After years of drawing elephants, dragons, fairies, monsters and other adorable characters for children's books and TV it is wonderful for me to include in my working week my life-long passion of drawing portraits. I enjoy working on all subjects, but not surprisingly my preference is children’s portraits.

The aim with my work is to capture not only a child’s character and likeness, but a moment in time that can be treasured for generations. As such I prefer to work from candid shots of children, rather than posed photographs that better encapsulate their innocence, cheeky curiosity and joy of life. I find my art doesn't follow a set format, but tends to evolve in its own way, each piece individual in its own right, just as the child is.

Based in beautiful Devon right on the South coast I take portraiture commissions from all over the UK and abroad. If local you

are most welcome to visit my studio for a photo session beforehand, but I mainly work from digital photographs which customers send to me via e mail. I have also found video footage of your child at play an excellent platform to work from, whereby I can freeze a perfect moment or expression as the basis for the portrait.

If you are interested in a commission please contact me and I will send further information /prices.
